Balto is an animated adventure series inspired by the real-life sled dog who helped deliver medicine to Nome, Alaska. The trilogy follows Balto and his family, so here's the order to watch.

Loosely inspired by the heroic sled dog who helped carry diphtheria antitoxin to Nome in 1925, Balto became an animated family favorite about a half-wolf outcast who proves his courage. Its success led to two direct-to-video sequels that continued the story with Balto's offspring.

πŸ• Release Order

Release order follows Balto and later his pups across the three films.

  1. Balto (1995)
  2. Balto II: Wolf Quest (2002)
  3. Balto III: Wings of Change (2004)

The sequels follow Balto's family after the original, so the chronological order matches the release order.

πŸ“– Story Chronology

The second and third films are set after the original and feature Balto's children, so story order follows the release sequence.

  1. Balto (1995)
  2. Balto II: Wolf Quest (2002)
  3. Balto III: Wings of Change (2004)

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch Balto (1995) first β€” it's the heartfelt, theatrically released original and the clear highlight of the series. The two direct-to-video sequels, Wolf Quest and Wings of Change, continue the story with Balto's pups and are optional follow-ups for fans. Starting with the original gives you the inspiring adventure that made Balto a family classic.
