Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg face off as a mild-mannered stepdad and a swaggering biological father in the Daddy's Home comedies. Here's how to watch them in order.
Daddy's Home pits Will Ferrell's gentle stepfather Brad against Mark Wahlberg's cool-but-reckless biological dad Dusty in a battle for the kids' affection. The hit 2015 comedy spawned a holiday-themed sequel that brought in Mel Gibson and John Lithgow as the dueling grandfathers.
π Release Order
Release order is the way to go, as the sequel builds directly on the first film's family dynamic.

- Daddy's Home 2 (2017)
Story chronology follows release order, with the sequel picking up after Brad and Dusty have made peace.
π Story Chronology
Story chronology matches release order β Daddy's Home 2 continues with Brad and Dusty now co-parenting as friends when their own fathers come to visit for Christmas.

Which Order Should You Choose?
Watch Daddy's Home first to understand the Brad-and-Dusty rivalry, then enjoy the holiday chaos of Daddy's Home 2. The sequel's jokes land much harder once you've seen how the two dads became reluctant allies. Release order is the clear winner.
