How to watch

Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy follows Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, kids Meg, Chris and Stewie, and their talking dog Brian in Quahog, Rhode Island. Fox canceled the show after three seasons, but strong DVD sales and reruns brought it back in 2005. Since then it has produced a direct-to-DVD movie, the spin-off The Cleveland Show, and the Laugh It Up, Fuzzball trilogy retelling the original Star Wars films.

🕐 Release Order

Release order follows Family Guy's journey from cancellation to revival and its many specials.

1. Family Guy (1999–present)
2. Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005)
3. Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest (2007)
4. The Cleveland Show (2009–2013)
5. Family Guy Presents: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side (2009)
6. Family Guy Presents: It's a Trap! (2010)

Most Family Guy episodes are self-contained, but a few milestones matter: the 2005 revival, Cleveland moving away to start his own show, and his eventual return to Quahog.

📖 Story Chronology

In story order, the specials slot between seasons, and The Cleveland Show fits during Cleveland's years away from Quahog.

1. Family Guy (1999–present) — Seasons 1–3
2. Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005)
3. Family Guy (1999–present) — Seasons 4–6
4. Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest (2007)
5. Family Guy Presents: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side (2009)
6. The Cleveland Show (2009–2013)
7. Family Guy Presents: It's a Trap! (2010)
8. Family Guy (1999–present) — Season 8 onward

Which Order Should You Choose?

Release order is the easiest way to watch, and since episodes rarely depend on each other, feel free to skip around. The Cleveland Show is optional, but watching it before Cleveland's return to Family Guy in Season 14 makes his homecoming more meaningful.
