How to watch

Written by and co-starring James Corden and Ruth Jones, Gavin & Stacey follows Gavin Shipman from Billericay and Stacey West from Barry Island, who fall in love over the phone and bring their very different families together. Smithy and Nessa, played by Corden and Jones, became breakout favorites, and the show's Christmas specials are among the most-watched broadcasts in modern British TV history.

🕐 Release Order

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch in release order with no skipping. The show is a slow-burn comedy where much of the fun comes from the families' quirks and running jokes, from Uncle Bryn's mysterious fishing trip to Pam's dramatics. The Christmas specials are perfect festive viewing, and the 2019 special and 2024 finale work best as a back-to-back double bill. If you enjoy British comedies with plenty of heart, The Inbetweeners and The Office are great choices next.
