Rob Zombie's Firefly family has terrorized horror fans for two decades. Here's how to watch House of 1000 Corpses and its sequels in order.
Musician Rob Zombie made his directing debut with House of 1000 Corpses, a garish, grindhouse-style horror film about a group of travelers who stumble onto the murderous Firefly family. Sid Haig's clown Captain Spaulding, Bill Moseley's Otis and Sheri Moon Zombie's Baby became instant horror icons, and the family returned in two sequels that shifted the series from funhouse horror to gritty outlaw road movie.
๐ Release Order
The trilogy spans sixteen years from first film to last.
- House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
- The Devil's Rejects (2005)
- 3 from Hell (2019)
The trilogy runs in a straight line, though each film has a very different tone.
๐ Story Chronology
The Devil's Rejects picks up after the first film, with the Fireflys on the run from a vengeful sheriff. 3 from Hell follows the surviving members after the bloody finale of The Devil's Rejects, as they escape prison and head for Mexico.
- House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
- The Devil's Rejects (2005)
- 3 from Hell (2019)
Which Order Should You Choose?
Stick with release order, which is also the story order. House of 1000 Corpses introduces the family in an over-the-top haunted house setting, The Devil's Rejects is widely considered the best of the three, and 3 from Hell brings the story to a close. If you only want one, The Devil's Rejects works surprisingly well as a standalone.
