Knight Rider made a talking car into a pop-culture icon and has been revived with TV movies, spin-offs and a 2008 reboot. Here's how to watch David Hasselhoff and KITT, plus everything that followed.

Knight Rider follows Michael Knight, a crime fighter working for the Foundation for Law and Government, and his partner KITT, an artificially intelligent Trans Am. The 1980s series made David Hasselhoff a star and became a staple of action TV. It was followed by several TV movies and spin-offs, including the futuristic Knight Rider 2000, the loosely related Knight Rider 2010, Team Knight Rider, and a 2008 relaunch starring Michael Knight's son.

πŸ• Release Order

Release order follows KITT's legacy across four decades of television.

  1. Knight Rider (1982–1986)
  2. Knight Rider 2000 (1991)
  3. Knight Rider 2010 (1994)
  4. Team Knight Rider (1997–1998)
  5. Knight Rider (2008)
  6. Knight Rider (2008–2009)

Knight Rider 2010 only borrows the name and isn't part of the main continuity. The 2008 TV movie leads directly into the 2008 series, which continues the original timeline with Michael's son Mike Traceur.

πŸ“– Story Chronology

In story order, follow Michael and KITT through the original series and Knight Rider 2000, then move on to the later teams.

  1. Knight Rider (1982–1986)
  2. Knight Rider 2000 (1991)
  3. Team Knight Rider (1997–1998)
  4. Knight Rider (2008) β€” TV movie
  5. Knight Rider (2008–2009)
  6. Knight Rider 2010 (1994) β€” standalone

Which Order Should You Choose?

Start with the original series; it's the heart of the franchise. Knight Rider 2000 is the best follow-up for Hasselhoff fans, and the 2008 movie and series offer a modern take. Team Knight Rider and Knight Rider 2010 are only for completionists.
