A murderous, undead officer stalks the streets of New York in the Maniac Cop horror-action series. Here's how to watch the trilogy in order.
Maniac Cop blends slasher horror with gritty action, following the hulking, badge-wearing killer Matt Cordell as he terrorizes New York City. Written by Larry Cohen and starring Robert Z'Dar as the unstoppable Cordell, the franchise built a cult following across three films.
π Release Order
Release order is best, as the sequels continue Cordell's rampage.
- Maniac Cop (1988)
- Maniac Cop 2 (1990)
- Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence (1993)
Story chronology follows release order, with each film continuing the saga of the undead officer.
π Story Chronology
Story chronology matches release order β the sequels directly continue Matt Cordell's supernatural reign of terror.
- Maniac Cop (1988)
- Maniac Cop 2 (1990)
- Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence (1993)
Which Order Should You Choose?
Start with the 1988 original, then continue through the trilogy in order, since the sequels build directly on Cordell's story. Maniac Cop 2 is widely considered the high point. Release order is the only way to follow this cult favorite.
