Nobody surprised audiences in 2021 by turning Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk into a bone-crunching action hero. Written by John Wick co-creator Derek Kolstad and directed by Ilya Naishuller, the film follows Hutch Mansell, a seemingly dull family man with a very dangerous past. Its blend of brutal fights, dark humor and family drama earned a sequel in 2025, which took Hutch and his family on a vacation that predictably goes very wrong.

Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto, picks up after the events of the first film, with Hutch working off a huge debt to the criminal underworld before trying to reconnect with his wife and kids on a family getaway. Which Order Should You Choose?
Watch them in release order. The first movie carefully reveals who Hutch really is, and that slow burn is a big part of the fun, so you'll want to experience it before the sequel. Nobody 2 leans harder into comedy and set-piece action, and it makes the most sense once you've met Hutch's family, his father David, played by Christopher Lloyd, and his half-brother Harry, played by RZA. If you enjoy tightly choreographed action with a sense of humor, both films are perfect weekend viewing, and they pair nicely with the other modern action franchises below.
