A deadly secret turns the biggest night of high school into a bloodbath in the Prom Night slasher franchise. Here's how to watch every entry in order.
Prom Night started as a 1980 slasher starring Jamie Lee Curtis, cashing in on the post-Halloween craze for masked-killer thrillers. The series spawned several loosely connected sequels β including a supernatural turn β and a 2008 remake, all orbiting the theme of prom-night terror.
π Release Order
Release order keeps the slasher series in sequence.
- Prom Night (1980)
- Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)
- Prom Night III: The Last Kiss (1990)
- Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil (1992)
- Prom Night (2008)
The sequels are only loosely linked, so story chronology mostly follows release order.
π Story Chronology
Story chronology broadly matches release order β the original and 2008 remake are grounded slashers, while the middle sequels follow the vengeful ghost of Mary Lou.
- Prom Night (1980)
- Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)
- Prom Night III: The Last Kiss (1990)
- Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil (1992)
- Prom Night (2008) β remake
Which Order Should You Choose?
Watch the 1980 original first for Jamie Lee Curtis in her scream-queen prime. If you continue, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II is the most fun of the sequels. The 2008 remake stands entirely on its own, so you can watch it separately. Release order serves the series best.
