The Best Man follows a circle of college friends across more than two decades of weddings, holidays and reunions. The story spans two films and a limited series, so here's how to watch it in order.
Written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, The Best Man stars Taye Diggs as Harper Stewart, a writer whose novel threatens to expose secrets just before his best friend's wedding. The ensemble cast, including Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Terrence Howard, Regina Hall and Harold Perrineau, returned 14 years later for The Best Man Holiday. The story concluded in 2022 with Peacock's limited series The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
๐ Release Order
Release order follows the friends across their lives, with real-world time passing between entries.
- The Best Man (1999)
- The Best Man Holiday (2013)
- The Best Man: The Final Chapters (2022)
Each entry picks up years after the last, catching up with the characters' marriages, careers and friendships. Story chronology and release order match.
๐ Story Chronology
In story order, the friends reunite for a wedding, then a Christmas holiday, and finally a set of last chapters in their lives together.
- The Best Man (1999)
- The Best Man Holiday (2013)
- The Best Man: The Final Chapters (2022)
Which Order Should You Choose?
Watch in release order. Each entry builds on emotional history from the previous one, so jumping in later means missing major payoffs. The Final Chapters is an eight-episode limited series that wraps up every character arc, making it the perfect finale.
