The Care Bears brought the cuddly, caring characters from Care-a-Lot to the big screen in a trio of animated adventures. Here's the order to watch the original theatrical films.

The Care Bears, with their heart-emblazoned tummies and messages of kindness, leapt from greeting cards to the movies in the mid-1980s. The lovable bears and their Care Bear Cousins star in a series of animated films filled with gentle lessons, magical adventures, and plenty of caring, aimed squarely at younger viewers.

πŸ• Release Order

Release order follows the Care Bears across their original theatrical trilogy.

  1. The Care Bears Movie (1985)
  2. Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation (1986)
  3. The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland (1987)

The films are mostly standalone adventures, though the second serves as an origin story, so there's a slight difference between release and story order.

πŸ“– Story Chronology

Because Movie II: A New Generation tells how the Care Bears came to be, the earliest point in the story is actually the second film released.

  1. Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation (1986) β€” the bears' origin
  2. The Care Bears Movie (1985)
  3. The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland (1987)

Which Order Should You Choose?

For younger viewers, release order works perfectly: start with The Care Bears Movie (1985), then enjoy the sequels. If you'd like to follow the story from the beginning, Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation is an origin tale, so you could watch it first. Either way, the gentle, self-contained adventures are easy to enjoy in any order.
