How to watch

Created and directed by Dallas Jenkins, The Chosen is a multi-season drama about the life and ministry of Jesus, played by Jonathan Roumie. Rather than retelling only famous moments, it explores the disciples and followers, such as Simon Peter, Matthew, and Mary Magdalene, as fully drawn characters with their own struggles. Funded largely by viewers, the series grew into a global phenomenon, with seasons premiering in theaters and on streaming platforms.

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch in release order from Season 1. The series focuses heavily on character development, so later emotional moments land best when you know the disciples' journeys. The show also produced Christmas specials and episodes for theatrical release that are nice extras but not required. The creators have planned a seven-season story, and we will update this guide as new seasons arrive. Viewers who enjoy sweeping historical drama may also appreciate shows like Shogun and The Last Kingdom.
