Based on C.S. Lewis's classic novels, the Narnia film series follows the Pevensie children and their allies as they step through a wardrobe into a land of talking animals, ancient prophecies, and the noble lion Aslan. Three films were produced, adapting the most popular books in the series.

🕐 Release Order

Release order follows the films as they were adapted for the screen, beginning with the most iconic story.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
2. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
3. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)

The films happen to line up with Narnian chronology for these three entries, though the wider book series famously does not.

Which Order Should You Choose?

Since only three books were adapted and they were filmed in story order, release order and chronology are the same — just start with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Book purists sometimes begin with The Magician's Nephew, but no film adaptation of it exists yet, so the movie trilogy is best watched from the 2005 original onward.
