How to watch

The Lost Boys blended horror, comedy, and MTV-era cool to become a cult classic about a seaside town overrun by young vampires. Its two follow-ups reunite fans with the vampire-hunting Frog brothers for more bloodsucking mayhem. The original's soundtrack, style, and sun-soaked vampire lore made it a defining teen-horror film of its decade.

🕐 Release Order

Release order is the way to go, as the sequels directly continue threads and characters from the original.

1. The Lost Boys (1987)
2. Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)
3. Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010)

The two sequels were made decades later but continue the same world, bringing back Corey Feldman's Edgar Frog as a seasoned vampire hunter. Because the sequels arrived more than two decades after the original, there's a noticeable jump in tone and budget between the first film and its follow-ups.

📖 Story Chronology

The story runs in the same order as release, following the Frog brothers' ongoing war against vampires from the original town to new hunting grounds. If you only want the essential experience, the 1987 film is entirely self-contained and needs no sequels to feel complete.

1. The Lost Boys (1987)
2. Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)
3. Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010)

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch in release order and start with the 1987 original, the definitive film that stands perfectly on its own. The two sequels are for dedicated fans who want more of the Frog brothers, so dive into them only after the classic first entry. Think of the first film as the main course and the sequels as optional dessert for fans who can't get enough of the Frog brothers.
