Creepshow is a horror anthology born from the partnership of George A. Romero and Stephen King, celebrating the gruesome EC comics of the 1950s. Spanning three films and a TV series, it's a perfect franchise for Halloween binges.

Each Creepshow entry tells several short, darkly funny horror stories framed as pages from a ghoulish comic book, introduced by the skeletal Creep. The 1982 original features Stephen King himself as a hapless farmer, while Creepshow 2 adapts more King tales, including The Raft. A low-budget third film followed in 2006, and Greg Nicotero revived the brand as a Shudder TV series in 2019.

πŸ• Release Order

Release order shows the franchise's journey from theatrical hit to streaming anthology.

  1. Creepshow (1982)
  2. Creepshow 2 (1987)
  3. Creepshow 3 (2006)
  4. Creepshow (2019–2023)

Because Creepshow is an anthology, every segment stands on its own, and there's no overarching storyline to track. The only connecting thread is the Creep and the comic-book framing device.

πŸ“– Story Chronology

With self-contained stories, the in-universe order is simply the release order, with the TV series continuing the tradition.

  1. Creepshow (1982)
  2. Creepshow 2 (1987)
  3. Creepshow 3 (2006)
  4. Creepshow (2019–2023) β€” Seasons 1–4

Which Order Should You Choose?

Watch the original 1982 film first, as it best captures the Romero-King spirit. Creepshow 2 is a worthy follow-up, while Creepshow 3 is unconnected to the original creators and largely optional. The Shudder series is the best modern take, and you can dip into its episodes in any order.
