The Conner family's story stretches across a classic sitcom, a revival, a spin-off and even a cartoon. This guide explains how to watch Roseanne and The Conners in order.
Roseanne was a groundbreaking ABC sitcom about a working-class family in Lanford, Illinois. Starring Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, it tackled money worries, parenting and family life with sharp humor. The show returned for a revival in 2018, which was then reshaped into The Conners after Barr's departure, and that spin-off ran for seven seasons.
π Release Order
Release order is the easiest path through more than three decades of Conner family history.
- Roseanne Seasons 1β9 (1988β1997)
- Little Rosey (1990)
- Roseanne Season 10 (2018)
- The Conners (2018β2025)
There is one big wrinkle in the timeline: the revival chose to ignore part of the original ending.
π Story Chronology
The original series finale revealed that much of season 9 was a story written by Roseanne, including Dan's death. The 2018 revival disregards that twist and continues as if Dan survived, before The Conners picks up directly afterwards. Little Rosey is a short-lived kids' cartoon about Roseanne's childhood and sits outside the main story.
- Little Rosey (1990) β optional
- Roseanne Seasons 1β8 (1988β1996)
- Roseanne Season 9 (1996β1997) β later disregarded by the revival
- Roseanne Season 10 (2018)
- The Conners Seasons 1β7 (2018β2025)
Which Order Should You Choose?
Watch in release order, but feel free to treat season 9 as an optional detour, since the revival effectively retcons it. Seasons 1β8 flow straight into season 10 and The Conners, giving you a complete arc for Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and DJ. Little Rosey is purely for curious completists.
