How to watch

Each V/H/S movie wraps several short horror stories inside a framing device about cursed or mysterious videotapes. The series launched in 2012 as an indie festival hit, rebooted on Shudder with V/H/S/94 and now releases new installments almost every year. It has even spawned two feature-length spin-offs based on fan-favorite segments.

🕐 Release Order

Release order follows the franchise's original trilogy, its spin-offs and the Shudder-era revival.

1. V/H/S (2012)
2. V/H/S/2 (2013)
3. V/H/S: Viral (2014)
4. Siren (2016)
5. V/H/S/94 (2021)
6. V/H/S/99 (2022)
7. Kids vs. Aliens (2022)
8. V/H/S/85 (2023)
9. V/H/S/Beyond (2024)
10. V/H/S/Halloween (2025)

Since the films are anthologies, the stories rarely connect. The revival entries are named after the years their tapes were recorded, so you can line them up by era instead.

📖 Story Chronology

This loose chronology sorts the anthologies by the era of their footage, then follows the spin-offs after the films that introduced them: Siren expands V/H/S's Amateur Night segment and Kids vs. Aliens builds on V/H/S/2's Slumber Party Alien Abduction.

1. V/H/S/85 (2023)
2. V/H/S/94 (2021)
3. V/H/S/99 (2022)
4. V/H/S (2012)
5. Siren (2016)
6. V/H/S/2 (2013)
7. Kids vs. Aliens (2022)
8. V/H/S: Viral (2014)
9. V/H/S/Beyond (2024)
10. V/H/S/Halloween (2025)

Which Order Should You Choose?

There's no wrong way in, but release order is best for seeing how the series evolved. If you only want the highlights, V/H/S/2 and V/H/S/94 are frequently named the strongest entries. The era-based order is a fun way to rewatch, letting you experience the tape aesthetic shift from the 80s to the digital age.
