How to watch

Walker, Texas Ranger became a 90s Saturday-night staple, mixing martial arts action with old-fashioned Western values. Chuck Norris played Cordell Walker for eight seasons alongside partner Jimmy Trivette and district attorney Alex Cahill. The franchise later expanded with a short-lived spin-off, a reunion movie and a modern reboot that inspired a prequel of its own. The original series ran on CBS and remains a pop-culture touchstone thanks to Norris's legendary roundhouse kicks.

🕐 Release Order

Release order covers the original series, its spin-off and TV movie, and the CW-era reboot.

1. Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001)
2. Sons of Thunder (1999)
3. Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005)
4. Walker (2021–2024)
5. Walker: Independence (2022–2023)

The Chuck Norris shows share one continuity. The 2021 reboot is a separate story about a Ranger returning home after his wife's death, and Walker: Independence travels back to the 1800s as a prequel to that series.

📖 Story Chronology

This chronology begins with Walker: Independence in the Old West, follows the Norris-era timeline, and ends with the modern reboot.

1. Walker: Independence (2022–2023)
2. Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001)
3. Sons of Thunder (1999)
4. Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005)
5. Walker (2021–2024)

Which Order Should You Choose?

Fans of classic action should go in release order with the Norris series and its Trial by Fire wrap-up. If you prefer modern family drama, start with Walker and follow it with Walker: Independence — both work without any knowledge of the original. Either way, expect plenty of Texas swagger, family loyalty and justice served the old-fashioned way.
